Day 10 was slightly draining both physically and emotionally. It just so happened that the day we decided to visit the Statue of Liberty and Elise Island, it poured. We were not prepared but were able to find ways to keep somethings dry, such as cameras. Everything else got wet. My pants and shoes were soaked much of the day. But hey! It's an adventure and we liked it. In person, the Statue of Liberty was smaller than I expected. It was great though to be able to climb to the pedestal and look out from there. Elise Island was our next stop. We had audio tours which provided a vast amount of information. Due to the rain, we finished visiting these two iconic sights quicker than we expected so we headed over to the 911 Memorial. Our family had been there before when I was six, but I don't remember it, nor the Twin Towers, so Matty and I really wanted to see it. We got to visit the memorial they built as well as the museum. Spending almost four hours there, we were overwhelmed with the details of 911. Footage of the hijackers in the airport, personal phone calls, last messages to loved ones, photos, recordings, survivor stories. It was hard to get through but so worth the time. It made me proud to be an American for sure. This is a must see for any who visit New York.
After that, we grabbed dinner and got lost for a little bit. We then made it back to were we were staying and crashed.
